About Michael Anthony Booth
Welcome to my author page! Here you can learn more about my journey, my inspirations, and the stories I'm passionate about sharing. Based in Hartlepool, United Kingdom, I hope you find connection and empathy within these pages.

Inspiration and passion
My writing began as a way to make sense of the world, shaped by dementia, identity, memory, and everyday courage. As a dementia advisor and navigating young‑onset Alzheimer’s, I realised many stories go unheard. Writing became a way to honour those stories.
I’m passionate about exploring where memory and mystery meet, the small clues, overlooked moments, and emotional truths beneath the surface. My books blend lived experience with fiction to help readers feel the humanity behind the plot: the vulnerability, strength, confusion, and connection.
I write about identity, family, secrets, and the fragile threads that hold people together. I write about losing parts of yourself while fighting to hold on. I write to challenge stigma, to show that even in the face of cognitive change, creativity adapts, deepens, and becomes more honest. In the end, I write because stories help people feel seen, and because I still have something to say.

Unique perspective
My writing comes from lived experience rather than imagination. I write from within the worlds of memory, identity, and cognitive change, not as an observer but as someone navigating them every day. That perspective shapes everything: the rhythm of the sentences, the way details matter, the emotional honesty, and the quiet tension that runs beneath the surface of my stories.
Because of my work supporting people living with dementia, and my own journey with young‑onset Alzheimer’s, I see things differently. I notice the small clues others might miss. I understand how fragile and precious memory can be. And I know how much courage it takes to keep going when the mind doesn’t always cooperate. That depth naturally finds its way into my writing.
I hope readers come away from my work feeling something tangible, a sense of empathy, connection, and recognition. I want them to feel the humanity behind the mystery, to see the people behind the clues, and to understand that even in difficult circumstances, there is dignity, humour, resilience, and hope.

Beyond the books
Outside of writing, I find meaning in the small, everyday things, the kind of moments that often get overlooked. I’m based in Hartlepool, where I spend a lot of time shaping my home and garden into places that feel calm, colourful, and welcoming. Creating spaces that support comfort, dignity, and wellbeing has become a big part of who I am.
I’ve also spent many years working alongside people living with dementia, and that work has shaped my values more than anything else. It taught me to slow down, to listen deeply, and to appreciate the strength people show in the face of uncertainty. Those lessons stay with me in every part of my life.
I live with young‑onset Alzheimer’s myself, so I approach the world a little differently now, with more patience, more humour, and a lot more acceptance. I take things in short spells, I rest when I need to, and I celebrate the days when everything flows. I think readers connect with that honesty. I don’t pretend to be anything other than who I am.
When I’m not writing or working on dementia projects, you’ll usually find me in the garden, planning the next burst of colour, or tinkering with a home project that makes life a little easier and a little more beautiful. Those creative outlets keep me grounded and remind me that even when life changes, there’s always something new to build, grow, or imagine.
"Our stories matter, even when memory falters, even when life changes, even when the path is hard. Creativity doesn’t disappear; it adapts."
