PRODUCT STAR RATING (out of 5 stars): 5 out of 5 stars

"Honestly, a great product. And a brilliant idea to place the pictures on the handle."

I have tried several products that claim they can open multiple items, and I have found very few, if any, that worked consistently, opening all or even just one.

I was not the only one who put this little gadget to the test. My wife, who has her nails done and struggles to open tins or does not have the strength to open bottles or Jars. My dad, who has arthritis in his hands and fingers, and I are living with dementia.

The designer claims it is a “versatile 5-function kitchen essential”.

The 5 being: drink cans; screw top bottles; bottle tops; jars; and ring pulls on tins.

All 3 of us put the product through its paces.

Well, we were all pleasantly surprised by the Genie and aptly named, as it really is magical.

The first thing we all said was that it fits nicely in your hand. Even my dad, who has grip issues, managed well.

I found the white and green made the Genie easy to find on my worktops.

My wife found all items she opened easy to do with the Genie, and I can happily report that no nails were harmed in the review of the product. The Genie's length, though not long, is enough to provide the extra leverage she needs to open bottles and jars.

My dad always struggles to open jars and tins with pull rings due to arthritis in his hands and fingers. The Genie, though, made it simple for him. So much so, he asked if he could keep this one, or else he would buy one. He was impressed that much.

Then for myself. Now I forgot quickly which side does what and which opens what. If you are confused by that sentence, imagine how confused I was trying to figure out how to use it. But never fear, the designers have thought of this and put pictures on the handle, so you just have to look to see which you need to open: jar, tin, bottle, etc.

Once I looked and followed the instructions, like my wife and dad, I found the Genie very simple to use.

We all found it easy to open the pull rings on tins to use the intended slot at the bottom of the handle, but then we switched to the jar opener to open the rest of the tin. Perhaps that is just us, but that is a tip for you.
