"An excellent safety button that is easy to use and small enough to carry."
The Otiom is an excellent little Safety button. Easy to carry. Comes with a lanyard for carrying it around your neck. Also comes with two Otiom Bases, a charging station and a tag.
The Otiom is not a locator as such. You locate the person with the tag, but it is more of a safety button. The idea, I think, is not for the Otiom to be used like most locators (trackers), but rather for the device to notify you of movement outside the safety zone or if the panic button on the tag is pressed.
The two Otiom Bases are placed in the person’s home. Somewhere discreet, should you wish. This serves as the home Base. The second Base can be placed somewhere else or at another home the person goes to, like a ‘safe zone’. In the app, you can set up an area where the person can move freely without triggering the alarm. But if the person steps outside this zone, an alarm is sent to the app on your phone to notify you and anyone else you choose that they have left the set zone. The app lets you locate the person or cancel the alarm.
The same is done should the panic button be pressed.
Unlike some of the other devices you can get, you cannot communicate with the person in distress. If this is not a problem, then this is the device for you and your loved one. Simple and easy to operate.
The only problem is making sure the person has the device on them.
The tag can be stitched into clothing, but remember it does need to be charged. It can be attached to keys in a handbag. So, there are ways to ensure the person always has the tag on them. I attached mine to my walking stick. It is waterproof.
Communication by the technical team is good. Whilst testing the Otiom, a technical glitch occurred. I received an email and an app notice that they had a problem. The problem was resolved quickly.
Overall, an excellent safety button.
