PRODUCT STAR RATING (out of 5 stars): 5 out of 5 stars

"A great, valuable memory aid that doesn't break the bank. A product that can be used time and time again."

Talking Tin – Red

The best way I would describe the product is a ‘talking Post-it note’.

A great way to leave a voice message for someone rather than having to write it down. You can place the Talking Tin on or near what you want the person to do, and then once activated, the message will play, giving the person an instruction or simply a note you have recorded.

I used it on a couple of settings to try it out.

First, I recorded a message to myself. To do this is easy. You simply press both red buttons and record your message.

The fact that you have to press both buttons means it is not easy to record over the message on the device accidentally. But as additional protection against erasure or recording over your original message, you can lock the device, which is done on the back of the device.

I was going on holiday and needed to plant some seeds ready for spring upon my return, as you do. The message I recorded was simply to plant the seeds, place them in the greenhouse and note where I put the seed packet. Honestly, I am glad I did, because I had completely forgotten about this task by the time I got home. I pushed play on the device, and it played my message. Again, simple to do. Push the black button to play. It is as easy as that.

Once the message was played, I knew exactly what I needed to do.

I tried another message on the same device. If the device is unlocked and you press both red buttons, you can record over the original message.

This time, it was to reheat some food in a container in the fridge. I recorded a message that said: "Remove the lid and place the container in the microwave for 5 minutes." Be careful: the container will be hot when heated. Stir before heating. I placed the device on top of the container in the fridge.

For me, this message was enough, but you can have them say what you want. You could have another one next to the microwave to give me instructions on how to use the microwave.

The next day, I was able to reheat the food without any issues or assistance.

The number of uses this can be used for is vast. I am looking at it from a dementia perspective, but you could use these in the workplace as well. Very useful as a memory aid in any situation.

You could give as many as you need, either instructions or a lovely message, so the person can hear your voice when they want to.

A voice-activated Post-it note that can be used anywhere, taken anywhere, and used to say anything. Small enough to go in a bag but large enough to be seen. Easy to operate, and unless you let the other person know or remember, recording over your message can only be done deliberately, not by accident. I believe they come in different colours and can be wall-mounted.

Batteries can be replaced using LR44 button batteries. A small screwdriver is needed for this.

A great little device that I would and have recommended to others.
